Practicum Requirements
Actively pursuing or nearing completion of a Master’s degree in Psychotherapy in Ontario.
Willing to commit to 2-3 practicum days in person in Kingston
Qualifying registration with CRPO
Professional liability insurance coverage.
Current police records check.
Two professional references.
Strong interest in psychotherapy with relevant clinical skills or a willingness to undergo training.
Client-centered, trauma-informed approach to care.
Cultural competence and sensitivity in practice.
Strong communication skills, sound judgment, and an empathic ability to establish therapeutic relationships.
Eagerness to network, build professional relationships, and collaborate with team members.
Self-motivated, confident, and capable of working independently. Desire to eventually see 5 clients back to back.
Ability to apply a range of theoretical models in assessment and intervention. Willing to learn and apply clinical formulation.
Proven ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing with clients, colleagues, referral sources, medical professionals, and community agencies.
Proficiency in using client care software, word processing, spreadsheets, presentations and email
Strong commitment to maintaining professionalism and ethical standards.
Ability to multitask, maintain attention to detail, and complete documentation in accordance with College and PHIPA reporting standards.
Not expecting the clinic to change their processes for you, but rather willing to adapt to current processes
Ability to follow directions effectively.
Access to a laptop for using web-based EMR and video conferencing.
